Withdrawing from a service: even after it has already started?
Not only with purchases of goods but also with services there is a right of withdrawal, for example with contracts concluded at your door, by phone or online. Things are only somewhat different if, at your request, the service already started before the deadline expired.

Frequently asked questions
Can I withdraw from a service?
As a rule yes, if the contract was concluded via distance selling (for example online, by phone) or off business premises (for example at your door); then a 14-day right of withdrawal applies. If you were not properly instructed about the right of withdrawal, the period is extended.
Do I have to pay if the service has already started?
If, at your express request, the service started before the withdrawal period expired, on withdrawal you owe proportionate value compensation for what was provided up to that point. If the service was already fully provided with your consent, the right of withdrawal can even lapse. Caution is therefore advisable if the service starts immediately.
