Package tour: significant change and free withdrawal
If the operator wants to change essential parts of the package tour before the start of the trip, such as the hotel, travel period, or central services, you have special rights. In case of a significant change, you can agree, choose a replacement trip, or withdraw free of charge.

Frequently asked questions
When may I withdraw free of charge because of a change?
If the operator significantly changes an essential part of the trip before the start, such as a considerably worse accommodation or a material change of the travel period. Then you can reject the change and withdraw free of charge (§ 651g BGB) or choose an equivalent replacement trip.
What happens if I do not react?
If the operator sets a reasonable deadline and you do not react, the change can be deemed accepted. That is why you should always react to the notice of a contract change in good time and in writing and clearly declare your choice.
Do I get my money back?
In case of a free withdrawal due to a significant change, payments already made are to be refunded. If you choose a replacement trip that is more expensive, the operator may not demand a surcharge for it; if it is cheaper, you are entitled to the difference.
