Frequently asked questions
Who gets the additional need for single parents?
Anyone who lives with one or more minor children and cares alone for their nurture and upbringing (§ 21 Abs. 3 SGB II). What is decisive is the actual sole care, not the legal status alone.
How high is the additional need?
It is granted as a percentage of the standard need and is graduated by the number and age of the children, up to a maximum value. With more or younger children it is higher. The job center calculates the exact amount based on your details.
What if the additional need is missing?
Check the notice and contest a missing or too-low consideration with an objection within one month. Present your family situation. A review application for the past can also be considered if the additional need was wrongly not paid.
