Reduction / cancellation

Your chances of getting your money back

In the case of a significant, continuous deviation of the actual from the contractually agreed speed, you can reduce the fee or cancel extraordinarily (§ 57 TKG).
You provide the proof with the official measurement of the Federal Network Agency (the desktop app 'Breitbandmessung'). A standardized measurement over several days is meaningful.

What you should do now

  1. 1

    1. Look up the contract values

Check the product information: which minimum, normally available and maximum speed is agreed?

  2. 2

    2. Measure officially

Carry out the measurement with the Federal Network Agency's official desktop app (several measurements on several days, via a LAN cable).

  3. 3

    3. Declare a reduction/cancellation

If the measurement proves a significant deviation, demand a reduction of the fee, or declare the extraordinary cancellation.

  4. 4

    4. Get overpayments back

Demand the proportionate refund for the period of poor performance.
