Frequently asked questions
How do I get out of an accidental order?
For online and distance purchases most easily via the right of withdrawal: you can usually withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason (§ 355 BGB). Best contact the retailer immediately and declare the withdrawal clearly and verifiably.
What if there is no right of withdrawal?
Then a rescission due to error can help, for example if you misclicked or mistyped (§ 119 BGB). It must be declared without delay after discovering the error. Under certain circumstances you owe the other party compensation for reliance loss.
Must the retailer accommodate me?
If a right of withdrawal exists, you have a clear claim to free yourself. Without a right of withdrawal, it depends on grounds for rescission or the retailer's goodwill. Many retailers cancel accidental orders easily if you get in touch quickly.
