Your chances of getting your money back

Families who receive Bürgergeld, social assistance, housing benefit, the child supplement or asylum-seeker benefits are entitled to benefits for education and participation (§ 28 SGB II / § 6b BKGG): among others, school supplies, outings and class trips, school transport, communal lunch, learning support (tutoring) and a contribution for sport, culture and leisure.
You must apply for the benefits separately; they are not automatically included in the standard rate. For school supplies there is an annual lump sum.
