Your chances of getting your money back

The employer must design the workplace safely and in a way conducive to health under occupational safety law (among others the Workplaces Ordinance); this also includes an ergonomic setup of screen workstations.
With regular screen work you are entitled to an offered examination of the eyes. If a normal visual aid is not sufficient for working at the screen, the employer must bear the costs of special screen glasses (to the extent necessary).

Frequently asked questions

Must my employer provide an ergonomic workplace?

Yes. Under occupational safety law (among others the Workplaces Ordinance) the employer must design workplaces safely and in a way conducive to health; with screen work an ergonomic setup is part of this. In case of complaints you should approach the employer or the company doctor so that the workplace is adapted.

Do I get screen glasses paid for?

With regular screen work you are entitled to an offered eye examination. If it turns out that a normal visual aid is not sufficient for screen work, the employer must bear the costs of special screen glasses to the extent necessary. For general everyday glasses, by contrast, this does not apply.
