Qualifying Period (Pension)

Minimum insurance period for a pension.

The qualifying period is the minimum number of insurance years needed for a pension entitlement. For the standard old-age pension it is five years; for special pensions it is more, for example 35 or 45 years. Contribution periods and certain substitute periods are counted toward it.
