Clarify your question

Your chances of getting your money back

With Riester there is an annual basic subsidy and, for children, a child subsidy. You receive the full subsidy entitlement if you pay in the minimum personal contribution (as a rule 4 % of your previous year's income subject to pension insurance, minus the subsidies).
If you pay in less than the minimum personal contribution, the subsidies are reduced proportionally. Also important is the subsidy application, most easily as a permanent subsidy application, so that you do not have to submit it anew every year.

What you should do now

  1. 1

    1. Calculate the minimum personal contribution

4 % of the previous year's income subject to pension insurance (minus subsidies), up to the maximum amount.

  2. 2

    2. Adjust your payment

Make sure you pay in at least the minimum personal contribution; otherwise a reduction applies.

  3. 3

    3. Submit a permanent subsidy application

Give your provider a permanent subsidy application so that the subsidies flow automatically.

  4. 4

    4. Report changes

Report marriage, children and income changes in good time so that the subsidies are correct.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the full Riester subsidies?

By paying in at least the minimum personal contribution, as a rule 4 % of your previous year's income subject to pension insurance minus the subsidies you are entitled to (up to a maximum amount). If you pay in less, the basic and child subsidy are reduced proportionally. Also do not forget the subsidy application.

What is the permanent subsidy application?

With the permanent subsidy application you authorize your provider to apply for the state subsidies automatically for you every year. This way you do not have to submit the application anew each year and you do not give away any subsidies. It is important to report changes (for example new children, income changes) so that the subsidies are calculated correctly.
