Presumption of Innocence
Everyone is presumed innocent until convicted.
Until guilt is proven by a final judgment, every accused person is presumed innocent. No disadvantage may be drawn from silence, and the state must prove guilt. The presumption of innocence is a cornerstone of a fair trial.
