Domain age

How long a web address has been registered, an indicator for a plausibility check.

Domain age tells you how long a web address has been entered in the public register. It is not proof for or against fraud, but a useful indicator: a site that has existed for only a few weeks does not fit a provider who has supposedly been doing business with you for years, and cannot support a contract that is years old. What is queried is the public registration date (RDAP); no personal data is requested. Two limits: only the current registration is visible, an earlier expired one would stay invisible, and for .de addresses the date is not publicly available.
