Reversal of the Burden of Proof

In the first year, the retailer must prove the goods were defect-free.

If a defect appears within twelve months in a consumer sale, it is presumed to have existed from the start. The retailer then has to prove otherwise, not you. This makes it considerably easier to enforce your rights during this period.
