Disclaimer of Inheritance

Declining the inheritance, for example when it carries debts.

If an estate is over-indebted, you can disclaim the inheritance and are then not liable for the debts. The deadline is six weeks from learning of the death and of your entitlement. You declare the disclaimer to the probate court.
