Acknowledgment of Debt
Acknowledging a debt on the merits.
With an acknowledgment of debt, the debtor confirms the existence of a debt. An abstract acknowledgment of debt can establish an obligation of its own and generally requires written form. Caution is advised, for example with declarations presented by debt collection agencies.
