Setting a Deadline
Giving the other party a reasonable deadline to perform.
Before many rights arise (withdrawal, damages, substitute performance), you must first set the other party a reasonable deadline to perform or to cure the defect. Only after it passes without success do the further-reaching rights apply. In exceptional cases the deadline is dispensable.
